I thought that a word existed that described the "packing" of a deliberative body with partisans in order to gain a numerical advantage, as with Roosevelt and the Supreme Court, or John Paul II and the College of Cardinals. This word was "supernumeration."

I was surprised to find that this word is not in the dictionary -- OED, M-W Unabridged, Chambers. I would need to find attestations, and the task seems insuperable. Could I be thinking of a different word with the same sense?

Where we live, you have to pay $20 per person to see fireworks at one of the local high school stadiums. We hate the crowds, and we don't have the money. So we just spent the evening looking at the Skyrocket module of xscreensaver.
