I just discovered that a former co-worker stole my job title and put it on his resume. He was a hateful person -- someone who believed himself to be so perfect that he could crush others and think nothing of it. At the time, I was a manager and he was an administrative assistant. Now, he's a big shot lawyer -- big surprise, given his Napoleonic ambitions -- and there's no way in hell I'm going to confront him and tell him to change his online resume. But it's tempting.

If he works for a firm, there's no need to confront him...

Yeah, it's totally not worth writing to the head of the firm and letting them know that you were the manager at the time and you don't really remember this guy ... but maybe he was someone's administrative assistant? Some firms might be worried that if he has cut this ethical corner, there may be other secrets he's been hiding from them that would involve them in liability. Of course, others, not so much.

Considering the hubris of this guy, it's surprising he didn't list you as a job reference too.
