Where do these messages go?
Aug. 1st, 2007 08:45 pmI have had Outlook crap out on me three times today, and every time I get this little box which says "Report this to Microsoft?" I hit yes. But where do these messages go? It's likely a situation analogous to what I get when I write to my elected officials. Microsoft probably aggregates these messages into a huge database, and categories rise to the top once they've accumulated a few million messages. "Hmm, perhaps we ought to work on the "freezes when window loses focus" thing -- it's got 9,332,478 votes!" They don't realize that every one of those messages is a SCATHING INDICTMENT OF THEIR ENTIRE DEVELOPMENT AND Q/A PROCESS.
Yes, I know. Use Thunderbird. Well, Thunderbird has a little secret. It doesn't work so hot once you reach 7,000 messages. That's because it uses the same indexing scheme for small mailbox files as for large ones. For large ones, it ought to work off the Google Desktop indexes.
