New Website
Aug. 11th, 2006 03:06 pmI am happy to announce the advent of my professional web site, at http://www.jkcohen.com/. For years, I've relied on word of mouth and repeat customers to keep me busy editing manuscripts. It's worked; I'm pretty busy right now. But now is the right time to see if I can do better. If anyone can think of places to promote the site, tell me. I'm particularly interested in blog ads.
It was a little difficult finding a good hosting company. Dreamhost was a disaster; the site was less available than Greta Garbo, and mail outages of several hours a day were common. I eventually settled on XO Communications, where, in another incarnation, I worked for a while as a middle manager. Fortunately, they seem to have gotten through their dot-com-bust bankruptcy, and they have an 99.9% SLA with teeth.
Developing the site was fun; my HTML is medieval (<heade>, <bodie>, etc.), but I'm getting up to speed on CSS and positioning.
Sadly, the bulk of my hits seem to be coming from spam comment posters trying to find my old blog. I remain hopeful, though.
