It turns out that I have one more reader than I thought. (I can now count them using my fingers and my toes.) Dell has been reading my LJ posts regarding my long nightmare with the Precision 670 workstation, and it has gone so far as to express concern to me via email. I am amazed. Dell has indeed sent a replacement, the Precision 690, and it is working well. Dell did still botch the number of disks and the RAID controller -- they shorted me a disk and the controller, so I am now running off the motherboard non-RAID controller. Still, apparently, somewhere in the corporate behemoth cares, and I am oddly touched.

Get 'em to send you the extras you PAID for. The +20 Precision model was their call and does not make up for shorting you the extras!
