Hypersomnia
Aug. 23rd, 2008 09:06 pmI fell asleep in the Getty today. We had come up early for an exhibit on Maria Sibylla Merian, the painter and naturalist; there was still mist and cloud as we went into the gallery. We emerged into bright sunlight, and went to the Bernini exhibit. I sat down on a bench and collapsed into deep sleep. A guard woke me up, and Beth frantically tried to explain to her that I was all right, that I was just tired. Beth bundled me away to the car, and we left, day interrupted. This sort of thing happens a lot; a brief experiment with Provigil failed on two fronts: (1) it caused insomnia; (2) it wasn't covered by insurance, and it's $10+/pill. Someday, my sleep will get worked out and days like this won't happen anymore.
