Jan. 22nd, 2006 08:01 pmIt probably doesn't need repeating that we have another David-Horowitz-wannabe going after "liberal" professors at UCLA. The country is just about ready for another McCarthy era, and this goon has gotten more publicity than the cure for polio.
Theoretically, the debate is over "overrepresentation" of liberals in academia. That, by itself, is a typical Horowitz inversion of the language of civil rights. But, seriously, if it's the real problem, there's a real solution. Send more Republicans to graduate school. Traditionally, many such have taken more lucrative paths such as law, medicine, investment banking, mineral extraction, and so forth. Conservative political organs should make it worth their while for them to apply to graduate school. If they get through graduate school, receive their PhD's, and get hired, they get to influence a generation of students. That's the fair way to do it. Are you listening, Bill O'Reilly?
